Happiest Big Band On Earth

Matt and the Band

About The Band

The Happiest Big Band On Earth is quickly becoming the hottest big band in Vancouver. Matt started the Happiest Big Band because of his love of the big band sound. But, he wanted to create something fresh, something new. To rehash the old standards was not where he wanted to go. His idea was to create all new arrangements of songs that were not familiar jazz numbers. Matt is a Disney lover, so it only made sense that he tap this connection to create arrangements that were new yet familiar at the same time.

So the process of building the band started. Several months were invested in arranging tunes for a 17 piece big band. Then came the selection process for the players. Matt had two criteria when in came to the players; one, they had to be outstanding musicians, and two, they needed to be Disney fans.

The Happiest Big Band's first gig was at Friday Night Live in North Vancouver.  The building was packed to capacity. Three weeks later, they played two shows back to back on a Friday and Saturday. The band was received with cheers and multiple standing ovations from full houses.

The band continues to grow. Regular performances to sold out houses throughout Vancouver has made the band a staple in the West Coast Vancouver music scene. So much so that the band is putting together a tour (dates listed below) and has started work on their first album.

Keeps your eyes and ears pealed for future performances of the Happiest Big Band On Earth. You will be glad you did.
